work in progress

Shh...don't tell Matt, but I'm working on a top secret project for our anniversary on July 4th. That reminds me...I need to send my grandma a birthday card soon because her birthday is on the 4th as well. Back to what I was saying: I'm working on something super special and I will document the process and post up once I complete it and give it to him. I'm sentimental and I like to create things rather than go out a purchase something. I probably will buy him something goofy or something that I know he wants, but he has put off purchasing. I think the most exciting part is making something. As a kid, I used to write poems and draw pictures as presents for people during the holidays. I don't think I'll grow out of it- I find handmade things to be more thoughtful and personal. Just one gal's opinion.
I can't believe it has already been a year. My, how time flies! We now joke about how I approached him and we started to hang out. I bribed him with spaghetti, kitties, beer, and Never Been Kissed. Deadly combo, apparently ;) Our first official date was walking to Gordon Park for fireworks and returning to my sweltering apartment to watch Clueless. I swear, it's as though it was yesterday. That's how it feels.
I've been playing with my camera settings to become more comfortable shooting straight manual. For the most part, I use the program-mode, which is half manual, half auto. I've been obsessing over HONY again and am working towards purchasing an ILC. Don't get me wrong- I love my Nikon D3100, but carrying it around everyday is a bit cumbersome. I'm researching ILCs for the time being, but I am leaning towards an Olympus Pen. Sorry if you're bored to tears with my camera chatter. It's what's currently on my mind.
Health update: I still have the stabbing pain in my side. I spent the day at the hospital on Saturday and we still don't know what the issue is. It's really frustrating to have this pain and they can't pinpoint a reason for it. Maybe one day I'll be on Mystery Diagnosis. I hope it's not anything crazy like a parasite or some dormant illness that suddenly has decided to wake up. I'll stop here so I don't freak myself out, but on the plus side, I don't have to have surgery (for now).
